Support Our Locally Owned Pet Supply Store with Your Purchase of Frozen Food for Cats
How do you know your cat is receiving the nutrition they really need? You're bombarded with cat food commercials, each declaring that their product is better than the others. HeartLand Pet Center LLC in Medina, OH can help reduce the confusion. We stock a variety of cat foods and can help you in choosing the one that is ideal for your precious pet.
Your cat is a hunter, descended from a long line of hunters. Wild felines naturally ate a wide assortment of nutritious food, based upon what they could capture. But your domestic cat counts on you to feed them. HeartLand Pet Center LLC has all the foods that will keep them happy and healthy.
What Nutrients Does Your Cat Need?
For starters, your cat is a carnivore. They require meat in some form. This could be chicken, beef, lamb, fish, or eggs. They need fats to supply energy and help absorb vitamins like A, D, B1, B2, B3, and B6. Also, some cat foods consist of carbohydrates, which are digestible and offer energy.
Reading a Cat Food Label
Cat food companies are required to put certain information on their labels, such as ingredients in descending order of weight, and guaranteed analysis, which tells you the minimum and maximum amount of nutrients like fats, protein, and fiber.
Learn about food descriptions. There's a big difference between "chicken cat food" and "cat food with chicken." Chicken cat food must be 95 percent chicken, while cat food with chicken can have as little as 3 percent. Food described as "chicken dinner" (or chicken formula) can be anywhere between 25 and 95 percent chicken.
Labels contain feeding directions, but they're a guideline and not a "one size fits all." Your vet's recommendations takes precedence.
Look for the nutritional adequacy statement, which tells whether the food is intended for an adult cat or a kitten.

This place is awesome. Locally owned and operated and while the chain stores refused to order the adult food of the puppy food that I used, this place not only carried the food but offered to order anything that they didn't carry. They've earned a customer for life.
Mark the owner is not only a great person and his knowledge as a vet tech has been very helpful for my wife and I on countless times that we have shopped in his store and his mom Shirly is the sweetest person with such an uplifting personality. Heartlands prices are very competitive and Mark carries what other pet stores do not in the way of a great source of food products you won't find in the big box stores. I highly recommend going to heartland if you have never shopped there yet.
